WLFM was an FM radio station (91.1, now WOVM The Avenue) from 1956 to 2005. W for east of the Mississippi River, L for Lawrence, and FM for FM radio. It was then converted to internet broadcast and ran until 2021. It the home of the Great Midwest Trivia Contest from its inception in 1966 until 2020; Trivia has broadcasted over Twitch since 2021. SOL Studios was founded around 2016 as a student-run recording space, based out of the then-disused Studio B (now called Studio A) to create a space for student musicians to collaborate regardless of major. In 2022, both of these organizations merged to form SOL/WLFM Studios! In fall 2025 SOL starts to wake from its slumber, hosting almost weekly concerts and sessions in conjunction to the new SOL house on the other side of campus. In October 2025 a new online WLFM  was purchased ending the 2021 through 2025 radio silence.

Here’s a bit of information left over from the students who started this iteration of the website. This version of the website was first published in 2016, with a theme revamp in 2023.

Margaret

Margaret Koss – Station Manager/Top 200

Interests include writing letters, secretly filming people, buying jackets, stealing mugs, collecting stickers, and yelling about my hard opinions. Graduating in 2017.

Regan

Regan Martin – Top 200

Class of 2017. I have the same birthday as Drake.

Ridley Tankersley – Top 200/Maintenance

Ridley is a senior and has worked at WLFM since September of 2015. He occasionally fixes things when they go wrong. He likes punk pop and rock music.

Albert Marshall – Jazz/World

Born and raised in St. Louis. I’ve been playing music since I was in 6th grade when I had to wake up at 5 in the morning to be bad at clarinet. Since then I’ve continued to play music throughout middle school, high school, and even now. I am even in a band (shameless plug: http://looprat.bandcamp.com/album/looprat). I always have and will continue to love music. Some of my favorite artists at the moment are Tool, Snarky Puppy, She, Aesop Rock, Quasimoto, Stevie Wonder, Tennyson, Gretchen Parlato, and many others. I love finding new music so if you hear something interesting please pass it along, there is almost no such thing as bad music!
